Swim Closures at Beaches in Newport, Warren, Middletown

The state Department of Health has recommended the closure of five beaches to swimming due to high bacteria counts.

Swimming is not recommended Atlantic Beach Club Beach, Third Beach and Peabody’s Beach in Middletown; Easton’s Beach in Newport and Warren Town Beach in Warren, the health department said.

Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the HEALTH laboratory or a state certified laboratory.
