Newport Mental Health Welcomes School-Based Therapist for Newport County Schools
Newport Mental Health announces the hiring of Craig Conover, a licensed clinician, specializing in children and adolescent therapy, who will be working in Newport County schools this year.
“We’re in sync with the Governor’s recent State of the State Address by providing schools with the support they need, in the location they need it most. By placing a therapist directly in the schools, it gives students and educators quick and easy access to our evidence-based treatment and services,” said Newport Mental Health CEO and President Jamie Lehane.

Conover has over 20 years’ experience working with children and adolescents through individual and family therapy in both public and alternate education settings, outpatient therapy and private practice throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.
“What draws me to the work is when people begin to recognize and realize their inner strengths. It’s a powerful process to be a part of,” said Conover, MS, LMHC, a Kingston, RI resident. In addition, Conover is a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT). Cognitive Based Therapy is a type of goal-oriented, person-centered therapy that aims to reshape a person’s thinking and behavior in both day-to-day and crisis situations
