Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center Wins Recognition
The rehab unit won the Guardian of Excellence Award for the third consecutive year.

NEWPORT, RI – The Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center inpatient unit at Newport Hospital has again been named a Guardian of Excellence Award recipient.
Press Ganey Associates, Inc. commended the Vanderbilt for providing "superior care."
“Receiving this recognition for the third straight year is evidence that a patient-centered approach is firmly ingrained in the way our rehabilitation team provides care,” said Melissa Fournier, Physical Therapist and manager of inpatient rehab services for Lifespan, including the Vanderbilt inpatient rehab unit.

“Our team really connects with patients and their families," she said. "They treat and teach them by involving them in the process, and as a result, build trusting relationships that help motivate patients and invest them in the rehabilitation process.”
According to the press release from Newport Hospital, the Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center at Newport Hospital "has a history of extremely high patient satisfaction scores and outstanding outcomes for its comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. It is accredited by the Joint Commission and its inpatient rehab program has also achieved accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for commitment to reducing risk, addressing health and safety concerns, respecting cultural and individual preferences, and providing the best possible quality of care."
