Weekend Weather: Cool Start Thursday Before Hot Weather Returns
Summer is coming back for a curtain call this weekend.
Although Thursday morning had Rhode Islanders pulling out their jackets and turning on seat heaters in their cars, summer temperatures aren't quite over in the Ocean State. This weekend, temperatures are expected to hit the mid-80s, allowing for one last hurrah at the beach or pool.
It's fitting that the sudden hot temperatures will come this weekend, ahead of the Autumnal Equinox on Monday that marks the official start of fall.
Don't expect it to fell like summer on Thursday. While it will be sunny, temperatures are only supposed to hit the high 60s. Temperatures will begin to climb on Friday, almost reaching 80 degrees before topping out in the low 80s on Saturday and Sunday.

If you are planning on heading to the beach, be careful. NWS has issued a high surf advisory for Washington and Newport Counties until 6 p.m. on Friday, warning residents that strong rip currents and waves breaking as high as eight to nine feet are likely.
