Whiz Kid: Cody Mello Created His Own Social Network; Headed to Brown University
This week's Whiz Kid is Rogers High School Senior Cody Mello.

According to Lynn Ceglie, who nominated Cody as this week’s Whiz Kid, he is “such a special young man,” who has accomplished a great deal in a short time.

Nominated By: Newport Patch Moms Council member Lynn Ceglie. “He is very bright and driven,” Ceglie said. "He is a great, well-rounded student."
Accomplishments: Cody seems to succeed in every area, with notable achievements in sports, academics and extra-curricular activities. He has made it to Eagle Scout, is Captain of Rogers' Academic Decathlon Team and took first place in Technical Computer Applications at SkillsUSA Rhode Island two years ago and second place last year. Cody even created his own social network called The Tesla Social Network as his senior project. He is also involved in the Underwater Robotics program through the MIT Sea Perch Institute and is Deputy Commander of the Rogers JROTC Viking Battalion.

Key to Awesomeness: Cody is interested in web development and was accepted to Brown University, where he will concentrate in Computer Science.
