Work Continues on Mt. Vernon, Marin Streets this Week
Utility work will be limited during the holiday week.

Here’s this week’s planned utility work, courtesy of the Newport Department of Utilities, for the week of Dec. 22 to 29.
- Raw Water Main Project (Middletown) - The installation of the new 30” raw water main will continue on Hanging Rocks Road in a northerly direction towards Gardiner Pond.
- Water Main Improvements – The Contractor will be working on Dec 22nd and 23rd transferring the individual water service connections s on Mt.Vernon St and Marin St to the new water mains that have been installed. The transfer of the individual water service connections will continue on Dec 29th and 30th. Work on the water main project will be suspended for the winter once the transfer of water services on Mt Vernon St and Marin St is completed.
- The new water main improvements in Gordon St., Catherine St., Holland St., and High St. are completed. The permanent trench restoration will be completed in Spring 2015. The contractor is responsible for maintenance of the trenches throughout the winter.
- Catchbasin Repair Project - Improvements to the catchbasins at the intersection of Lawrence Ave and Shepard Ave will continue
- Catchbasin Separation Project – Saw Cutting will begin on Cliff Terrace and at the intersection Van Zandt Ave and Third Street. Work will continue at the intersections of Morton Ave and Carroll Ave; Parker Ave at Middleton Ave; and Thames St at Ann St.
