Title: Workshop: Plein-Air Painting, Draw or Paint with Lisa Granata





ABOUT:

Students will paint
or Draw in the “Open Air” capturing the light, atmosphere and the natural
subject matter. The class will meet at The Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middle Town
RI, situated on 325 acres. Positioned along the Atlantic Ocean with
breathtaking views, the habitats include grassland, forest, ponds, and sandy
beach.



Students may work in
oil, acrylics, or pastels. Artworks completed on site and in one sitting.
Artworks will be less detailed and more Impressionistic. Concentration will be
on the artist’s personal style. Students will provide their own materials.



WHAT TO BRING: Easel, small table,
beach chair, wet wipes, paper towels sunscreen, bug spray, gallon of water,
lunch, sun glasses, hat, camera, close pins, a beach umbrella and bathing
suit.  





PASTELS SUPPLIES: Sketchbook,
pencil, view finder, eraser, 1 sheet of sanded pastel paper or 1 sheet of blue
or green canson paper taped to drawing board, pastels hard & soft, blending
stumps, view finder & masking tape.





OIL PAINTING SUPPLIES: Sketch book,
pencil, eraser, canvas with thin wash of blue or green acrylic, oil paints,
Masterson's Sta-Wet palettes, oil painting medium, jar of turpentine, clean
tuna can, brushes, a pallet knife & an apron.





ACRYLICS PAINTING SUPPLIES: Sketchbook,
pencil and eraser, acrylic paints, liquitex flexible gloss varnish, slow-dri
blending fluid, big tub of water, canvas with thin wash of blue or green
acrylic, clean tuna can, brushes, masterson's sta-wet palettes, water- spray
bottle & a pallet knife. 







Biography:



Lisa Granata was
born in Little Falls New Jersey. She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in
General Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has a Masters
of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a year’s
study in Florence Italy at Studio Arts Center International. She lives in Rhode
Island, teaches, and paints in Massachusetts.



 



Lisa Granata
instructs classes in the Art Department at Dean College in Franklin
Massachusetts since 2002. There she lectures to several Art Appreciation
classes titled Introduction to Visual Arts and she teaches courses in the School
of Professional & Continuing Studies. Lisa instructs classes at Lasell
College in Newton, Massachusetts. In Lasell College, she teaches studio art
courses in Studio Drawing 1, Figure Drawing, Principles of Design & Color
and Three-D Design. She has been teaching a variety of Studio Art classes at
the Attleboro Arts Museum School since 1993. Lisa teaches the following Studio
Art classes: Introduction to Drawing, Drawing with Pastels, Introduction to
Painting and Principles of Color. She teaches children’s classes in Drawing,
Collage, Cartooning, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking and the Art of the
Masters. Lisa also enjoys presenting lectures, demonstrations and workshops
throughout southern New England.



 



Lisa Granata’s art exhibition record includes galleries and
museums on the east coast in the mid west and in Italy.  Lisa’s art studio is located in Fall
River Massachusetts
