• New Shoreham School Cafeteria Near Budget; Task Force Eyed (upriseri.com) — New Shoreham families should know the school cafeteria is running close to its budget as it reopens, with staffing hours still being fine-tuned. School officials are eyeing a task force of a parent, student, staffer and community member to prepare for running food service in-house next year, while also grappling with supply hiccups when boats don't run.
• New Shoreham Special Ed Reports Full State Compliance (upriseri.com) — New Shoreham parents of students with special needs can take note that the district has moved from past non-compliance to 100% state compliance, while boosting Medicaid reimbursement to about $70,000 for the general budget. The special education director also outlined staffing needs, new trainings, and how federal funds are now being fully used for services, materials, and preschool support.
• New Shoreham HDC Continues High Street Hotel Renovation (upriseri.com) — If you care about New Shoreham's historic look, a proposed renovation of a late-1800s High Street building for two hotel rooms is on hold after the Historic District Commission raised concerns. Members questioned a five-foot roof height increase, modern-looking dormers, and an exterior stair location, sending the applicant back to revise plans before a future hearing.
