9-10 East Regional Tournament to Feature RI's Barrington Little League
After winning the state 9-10 title, Barrington Little League will now face regional and New England competition.
After a successful run in the Rhode Island State District 9-10 division, Barrington Little League will now move on to the east regional tournament. The 9/10 Eastern Region Invitational is held at Michael P. Varrato Field at the U.S. Senator John Chafee Athletic and Recreational Complex in Cranston, R.I. which is located at 450 Hope Rd. According to the event's website, "the official tournament hotel is the Crowne Plaza at the Crossings" in Warwick just off Route 95.
The event features teams from 11 states here in the Northeast, with all 6 New England states represented. Joining the New England states are Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey. The teams start play on Saturday August 5th , with a banquet and reception taking place Saturday night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel starting at 6:30.
The Rhode Island entry into this year's regional tournament, Barrington, plays its first game on Sunday August 6th at 7:30 vs. Vermont. Then, Monday at 2pm vs. Maine. Wednesday, Barrington faces Connecticut at 7:30. Followed by New Hampshire on Thursday at 7:30. Should Barrington win its bracket or come in second, Friday would be the championship game for the New England division. And if they are successful in that game, the East Regional Championship game will be played on Sunday.

In speaking with tournament director Bob Rocchio, hundreds of hours of preparation behind the scenes, on the fields, and in the concession stands have taken place. Bob assured me that every detail was thought of, every instruction was given for the safety of the players, every "T" was crossed and every "I" was dotted.
