We will paint kindness rocks for distribution across town and create banners for the upcoming NK Pride Parade. On view from April 10 through June 13, 2026, <a href="https://www.jamestownartcenter.org/upcoming-exhibitions/next" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">NEXT</a> gathers a new generation of artists connected to Jamestown—those who grew up on the island or spent formative years within its orbit. Across media, the exhibition traces how local experience persists, mutates, and reappears within contemporary artistic production. This program brings those undercurrents into conversation, making visible the relational and generational dynamics that animate the work.

The parade starts lining up (also at 9am) and takes off from Wilson Park on West Main St at 10am.&nbsp;This patriotic event features a march through Wickford, up Phillips St, and then along Tower Hill Rd to Elmgrove Cemetery where concluding&nbsp; ceremonies will take place with the Grand Army Of The Republic.&nbsp; Please&nbsp;bring your pet to participate in the cherished 'Dogs of Wickford' tradition, and if you would like to join the parade, show up by 9:30 at Wilson Park to get in line. All are welcome.

Jamestown Philomenian Library

The Jamestown Tick Task Force is pleased to present a program at the Jamestown Philomenanian Library with Dr. Joseph England on June 10th, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, entitled Tick Talk: Beyond Lyme Disease.&nbsp; April to October is the most active season for Deer and Lone Star ticks. However, ticks&nbsp;are active all year. Different tick species have different months when they are most active. Each species is capable of transmitting a variety of tick-borne illnesses. Dr. England, a well-known longtime family practice physician on Jamestown, has treated many patients with tick-borne illness during his long career in family medicine. He will present an overview&nbsp;of the tick problems in Jamestown and offer common sense insights on signs and symptoms of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases and methods of prevention.&nbsp;You won’t want to miss this informative free talk and learn how to stay safe and tick-free this summer!

The book is more than a chronicle of a modern family, it is an unflinchingly honest account of Gooch’s decision to start a family later in life—an unexpected leap following decades in which such possibilities were unimaginable. Gooch movingly describes living through the AIDS crisis in New York, the loss of his first great love, and a surprise second act that includes finding love again, marrying his husband Paul and welcoming two boys through surrogacy.
Gooch writes with vulnerability about all that parenthood brings: not only joy and wonder, but also anxieties, night frights, money worries, and many universal themes that parents of children young and old will recognize. As with many parents, the arrival of children invites us to question our own mortality.
