• North Kingstown Delays Pet Store Ban, Buys $880K Fire Pumper (upriseri.com) — North Kingstown residents face several big town decisions this month, including a delayed vote on banning retail dog and cat sales and an emergency $880,043 fire pumper purchase to cover aging equipment. Councilors also pressed an asphalt plant over odors in West Davisville, advanced dispatch upgrades for the new public safety complex, heard school construction updates, and filled numerous local board and committee seats.
   

• Turkey's Gravy Days Just Beginning (ecori.org) — A once-notorious traffic-stopping turkey named Gravy now calls North Kingstown home as an education ambassador at the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island on Tower Hill Road. After repeated run-ins with cars in Middletown and rehab at two facilities, veterinarians say he's recovered, pain-free, and learning to live safely with other turkeys while helping teach people about wildlife.
