Audubon Birding Hammonasset Beach and Lighthouse Pt. in Conn.

Hammonasset Beach State Park is the premier birding site in Ct., with approximately 300 species spotted in that location.  Observe migrating waterfowl, waders, shorebirds, raptors, warblers, and buntings, and possibly cave swallows and the Northern Saw-whet owl. Participants will also visit Lighthouse Point Park, one of the oldest hawk watch sites in the U.S.  We will watch for accipiters, falcons, buteos, and eagles. We will also stop at East Shore Park where a water treatment plant provides a micro-climate which attracts migrant warblers, sparrows and swallows to linger.  Please bring a lunch and snacks, binoculars, scopes and make sure to dress for the weather.  Visit www.asri.org for more information.
Program fee: $50/ member. $60/ non-member.  Ages 16+
