The public appear to be easily fooled by recent headlines that tout the Block Island wind farm " demonstration " project as a major success at 300 million dollars producing enough power for 17,000 homes and completed in December of 2016.
Several news stories in a local Block Island paper paint another picture of the " demonstration " project.

The Block Island paper over a series of months has produced at least four news stories with in depth reporting that the project has major flaws.
One turbine does not operate which is twenty percent of the project. The electric ocean cables were improperly buried and need to be reburied. There was a generator fire at the local power plant last year that left the island with not enough power to self sustain and an ongoing lawsuit over the power plant.
The question needs to be asked why state politicians are painting a rosy picture of commercial wind that some day may turn our electric bills into a second mortgage on our homes.
It's obvious to the most casual observer that the offshore Block Island ocean wind project is by far not complete only operating at eight percent capacity and ocean electric cables that cost as much as the turbines themselves need to be reinstalled.
Generators will have to be brought back to the island when the twenty mile electric cable to the island is de-energized
The true cost of the project won't be known until some time this summer far from 300 million.
The mainstream nation media, state and local politicians reference the five ocean wind project as a demonstration-scale wind farm.
The reporting by the mainstream media demonstrates the decline in investigative journalism.
Do you call it complete just because it is producing power ?
How much will it cost to complete the project and will our electric bills become a second mortgage on our homes ?
