Suspect Was Going 100 MPH on Tower Hill Road: NK Police
An East Greenwich man has been charged with felonies in connection with two crashes Thursday morning on Route 1.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — An East Greenwich man is due in court today after he was involved in two car crashes on Thursday morning on Route 1 (Tower Hill Road). Police Capt. Paul Barry said Jason Fowler, 23, was allegedly traveling around 100 mph when he rear-ended the car in front and sent it into a utility pole. Then he sped on, ultimately lost control of his own car and crashed on Route 1 northbound near the exit to Route 138, police allege. He is charged with felonies, Assault with a dangerous weapon (his vehicle), and Driving to endanger, injury resulting. He's also charged with Duty to Stop, injury resulting, Driving under the influence, a misdemeanor; and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, which is a violation.
Both drivers went to the hospital but were released with minor injuries. The other driver's name is not being released because he was a victim in the incident. Fowler was arraigned last night and held overnight at the Adult Correctional Institutions. The North Kingstown Fire Department responded to the first crash on Tower Hill Road on Thursday morning shortly before 10. According to Deputy Fire Chief Philip Aldrich said, the rescue was complicated by the fact the pole was knocked down and wires were on the ground, he said.
