Community camping for Girl Scout troops of North Kingstown- Jamestown on Sept 27th-29th 2013.

Girl Scout troops from North Kingstown and Jamestown came together on a beautiful fall weekend at Camp Hoffman in West Kingston, RI to enjoy the outdoors. Approximately 17 troops making up 140 scouts of all ages from enjoyed the event.

The outdoor day and ceremonies were started off by NK-J service unit manger Karen King- with flag, songs and announcements!  Younger scouts spent the morning learning from the older scouts of Cadette troops 1280, 841, 561, and 396, Senior scouts of troop 561 and Ambassador scouts of troop 852. Skills taught were outdoor cooking, fire building, knot tying, and hiking.  Fun activities included songs, crafts and games. The morning ended with a closing flag ceremony and of course………. SWAPS (special watchamacallits affectionately pinned somewhere)! Older scouts had a chance to refine their outdoor camping skills, abilities on the ropes course, and aim at the archery range led by the NK-J service unit team of Bill Howard, Nancy Preston, and Karen King. Volunteers included Dale Preston, Lesley Howard and “Bulls Eye”. Many thanks for a great weekend!
