Cooler & Warmer: Call for Art in Wickford

The news story that wouldn't die in 2016 could provide inspiration for artists.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—That "Cooler and Warmer" tourism slogan that sparked so much controversy in 2016 will be recycled in 2017, the Wickford Art Association indicated today.

The association is presenting “Cooler and Warmer” for its first show of the year. The open juried show runs from January 14 to February 5, 2017. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.

The Call for Art is on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, Jan. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Artists may refer to our website for submission guidelines and entry fees. Show registration is open to artists in any fine art medium.

The juror is Charlie Hall, a Rhode Island School of Design graduate, award-winning political cartoonist, painter, teacher, author, songwriter and RI Comedy Hall of Fame inductee.

The “Cooler and Warmer” reception is on Sunday, Jan. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 36 Beach St., North Kingstown. Hall will present awards with cash prizes at 1:30 p.m.
