Pyrography is the art of drawing with a heated metal-tipped pen.

Pyrography is the art of drawing with a heated metal-tipped pen. Unlike paint, ink or graphite that sits on top of the canvas or paper, pyrography burns the surface, significantly altering it much like etching or engraving.Pyrography combines the sharp crisp details of pen & ink with softness of charcoal to create unique sepia-toned qualities unlike any other medium.

Cate McCauley, of West Greenwich, RI, is one of Wickford Art Association's latest Juried Art Members. She will be give a talk about pyrography and bringing her equipment so you can try it for yourself.
