The Montgomery Bus Boycott: Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Long Reach of the Civil Rights Movement

Please join us at the as we welcome URI’s Professor Rob Widell who will explore the origins and impact of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. 

The Professor will discuss the ways in which the Boycott helped launch the modern civil rights movement but also was part of a longer protest tradition in the African American community.  Discussion will also examine lesser known aspects of the Boycott, including the significant role played by young people and by people living outside the South.
