Find Your Inner Pollinator! How to be sure your grandkids are eating healthy in 2050 and beyond
The public is cordially invited to a Find Your Inner Pollinator forum hosted by the North Kingstown Groundwater Committee, at the Beachwood Center for Life Enrichment, 10 Beach Street, on April 7 at 7:15pm to celebrate the Senior Center’s status as a native plant cum pollinator-friendly location, The public is also cordially invited to a tour of the pollinator friendly gardens surrounding the facility (weather permitting) during the 'golden hour' before sunset, beginning at 6:45 (meet on patio at the front door). . During the tour, tour leaders will place two mason bee houses fashioned by the members of the NK Groundwater Committee in the gardens. The forum will be given by Vanessa Venturini of URI's Master Gardeners on how to make your acres attractive to pollinators and how to help reverse their dramatic world-wide drop that is threatening our food supply, now, and increasingly in the future, if we do not act . Vanessa will be introduced by Jules Cohen, President of the NK Senior Center Association, who has already begun to invite increasing numbers of pollinators to his garden. The event is free and open to the public and ample time will be dedicated to answering questions.. Pollinator-friendly -seed packs will be distributed to attendees, along with handcrafted mason bee houses, while they last.
