Fire Doused at 7255 Post Road: One Person Displaced

The firefighters made quick work of the fire, which broke out around 9:58 a.m.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Smoke poured into the air this morning when the North Kingstown Fire Department was called to the Quonset Efficiency Apartments at 7255 Post Road.

According to Fire Chief Scott Kettelle, the call came into the dispatch at 9:58 a.m. Firefighters found smoke when they arrived and a working fire in one apartment.

However, the occupant and two cats had made it safely outside.

The fire was knocked down quickly. All the units were back in service in about 45 minutes, and there were no injuries to civilians, fire crews or pets, he said.

The resident is seeking alternative housing as a result of the fire, and the apartment building owners are in the process of making necessary repairs, he said.
