Get Out: Bike Path, East Greenwich Art Festival & More

Stir-crazy from a lack of electrical power? Need to get your mind off the havoc wreaked by Tropical Storm Irene? Get outside this weekend and burn off some steam.

Tropical Storm Irene left nearly 10,000 customers in North Kingstown without power, according the National Grid/Rhode Island-Electric website. The company projects power will mostly be restored Friday, with remaining customers back on line by Sunday.

That means you may be looking to get out of the house in the next few days. Whether you need to get your mind off the wreckage or let your children burn off some pent-up energy, here are five ways to enjoy your weekend:

Quonset Point Bike Path

Where/When: Entrance at the intersection of Potter, Fletcher and Newcomb Roads in Davisville | Open daily from dawn to dusk

Why Go: Enjoy 2.5 miles of smooth biking, jogging, and walking. The bike path is open from dawn to dusk and pets are allowed. Leave the vehicles behind and explore Narragansett Bay from the Quonset Point Bike Path.

Where/When: 1408 Division Street in East Greenwich | Saturday, September 3, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine

Why Go: The art festival will feature a variety of entertainment, including balloon artists, face painters and a free children's craft area. Parking will be available at the New England Tech campus and at the Rocky Hill Flea Market, according to the event website.

Newport Waterfront Irish Festival

Where/When: The Newport Yachting Center, downtown Newport | September 3, 4 and 5 from noon to 9 p.m., noon to 8 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m., respectively

Why Go: Are you a fan of Guinness? If so, get down to the Irish Festival this weekend; enjoy a good Irish stout, kick up your heels and enjoy a weekend full of all things Celtic, including cultural exhibits, Irish step-dance, comedy routines and more.

Pricing: $20/adult Saturday and Sunday; $17/adult on Monday; children under 12 are free with an adult. For more ticket information, click here.

Rhythm & Roots Festival

Where/When: Ninigret Park, Charlestown | September 2, 3 at 4 p.m., 11 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively

Why Go: Attend the festival and enjoy a host of musical entertainment including Harper & the Midwest Kind, Swamp Cabbage and Curley Taylor. Furthermore, family-friendly movies start playing at 7:30 p.m. at the VSA Arts Family Stage.

Murder at the Museum: Art of the Masquerade

Where/When: 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport | Saturday, September 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Members of the Marley Bridges Theatre Company will be performing a family-friendly crime drama set against the Newport high life of 1916. Attendees are invited to solve the murder mystery by questioning suspects and investigating the galleries for clues.

Pricing: $25/non-member adult; $13/non-member youth
