Why Go: Enjoy a day of family entertainment and Smith's Castle's famous strawberry shortcake. According to the Smith's Castle website, the Narragansett Indians and the colonists both relished the tantalizing berry from which the cake is derived.

Why Go: Hit two birds with one stone as you shop for fresh groceries and burn off the morning's breakfast by strolling through the various booths at Cross Mills Farmers Market. Why Go: The Tony-award winning musical "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is playing this weekend at the Theatre by the Sea. Parents, however, are cautioned that there is some mature content in this musical.

Broadway Review - Opening Night
Where/When: The Theatre at the Newport Campus, One John Chafee Blvd., | Friday, June 17 at 8 p.m.
Why Go: See CCRI students perform bits of some of broadway's most-beloved musicals, including excerpts from "Hairspray," "The Lion King" and "Les Miserables." Proceeds from the performance will go toward the Deborah Y. Griffin Vocal Scholarship fund.
