How Do You Claim Abandoned Property?

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Has your name appeared on one of those unclaimed property lists? Would you like to know how to cash in on the money? Rep. Julie Casimiro and Treasurer Seth Magaziner will explain on June 9. The event is from 9 to 11 a.m. at the North Kingstown Town Hall.
“This is a great opportunity for North Kingstown residents to learn about the unclaimed property system and how those with unclaimed property can reclaim their lost or abandoned property,” Casimiro said.
Unclaimed property consists of money and other assets that are considered lost or abandoned after an owner cannot be located for a specific period of time. It includes bank accounts; stocks and dividends; wages; refunds; safe deposit boxes; insurance payments; gift certificates; credit memos; and account receivable credits and payables.

They will have a list of all the unclaimed property under state care that is listed for North Kingstown residents and they will detail how the residents can claim their property.
