A 20-year-old Johnston woman was charged with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test after she crashed on Tower Hill Road late Monday night in North Kingstown.

North Kingstown police said Danielle M. Absi, 20, of 42.5 Dean Ave., Johnston, told police at the scene that she lost control of her car when she wasn’t paying attention to the road.

A check of the car as it was being towed led to the discovery of a small bag of marijuana in the center console, according to a police report. That led to an additional citation for marijuana possession.

Absi was released from police custody while at the hospital and was given a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on Aug. 18.
