Beginning 7 p.m., July 18, at the Band Shell, North Kingstown Town Beach

At 7 p.m. tonight, July 18, the Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will be joined by the North Kingstown Community Chorus to perform a free outdoor concert at the Band Shell, North Kingstown Town Beach, off Route 1A, Wickford. Led by band conductor Bethany Clarke Bromley (shown above) and chorus director Heather Skidds, the joint concert will feature patriotic music, marches, and show tunes.

Audience members should bring lawn chairs for seating. In case of rain, the band will perform inside the N.K. Community Center at the Town Beach, and the chorus will be postponed to July 25.

The Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded more than 130 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band’s members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
