The Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will perform its 12th annual Armed Forces Salute on Sunday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. at North Kingstown High School, 150 Fairway Drive. Music Director Bethany Clarke Bromley will conduct a program of patriotic favorites, Broadway tunes and big band music.

The Armed Forces Salute is a community tribute to past and present members of all branches of the U.S. military. For the first time, the concert is scheduled for a Sunday afternoon (past performances were held on Saturday nights). Admission is free and all ages are welcomed.

Voluntary donations at the door will be appreciated and shared between the Providence VA Medical Center Voluntary Services Office, to aid veterans in need, and the band's free community concert program.

The master of ceremonies will be LT General Reginald Centracchio, Adjutant Emeritus, R.I. National Guard. The program will include:
  • A memorial ceremony for those who made the ultimate sacrifice
  • Recognition of all veterans and family in the audience
  • "Taps" played by R.I. State Bugler TSgt. Michael Jackson, USAF (Ret.)
  • Ceremony and honor guard participants including the Artillery Co. of Newport Color Guard; U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, Quonset Color Guard; VFW Post 152, North Kingstown Color Guard; Rolling Thunder, RI Chapter; and the Patriot Guard Riders
  • Displays from the R.I. Aviation Hall of Fame's USS John F. Kennedy Project
The concert is made possible by a grant from the North Kingstown Arts Council.
