LINKS North Kingstown School Volunteers

LINKS offers opportunities to volunteer as mentors and reading & math guides in the North Kingstown public schools

LINKS (the nonprofit organization that links volunteers to the North Kingstown public schools) is looking to add mentors and reading & math guides to its pool of positive, caring adult volunteers involved with the program.

Mentors commit to spending one hour per week with a student during the school day at one of the NK public schools. The primary goal of the LINKS Mentoring Program is to positively influence young people's lives academically and socially through mentoring. Mentors are caring adults who are willing to spend time during the school lunch period getting to know a student by talking, listening, playing games or sharing a hobby and by being a positive, consistent friend and role model.

Reading & Math Guides commit to spending one hour or more per week in a classroom at one of the NK public schools. The primary goal of the LINKS Academic Guides Program is to give one-to-one or small group attention to students to enhance their understanding of the concepts that a teacher is working on with his or her class. Guides can volunteer to support students in reading or math.
