Mail Ballots Could Change NK Council Results

The final results are still too close to call.

At least three incumbents will be returning to the North Kingstown Town Council for another two year term, but with 680 mail ballots still uncounted, preliminary results show the race is too close to make a final call.

With all nine precincts reporting, Kerry P. McKay (R), Kevin V. Maloney (I), and Carol Hueston (R), all can feel confident that they will be serving another two-year term, garnering 5,625, 5,470 and 4,959 votes respectively.

Following the top three vote getters are Ellen S. Waxman (D), with 4,426 votes; Jason A. Alburquerque (R), with 4,397 votes and Richard A. Welch (D), with 4,365 votes. As mail ballots are counted, positions could change, which means Welch, an incumbent, could return for another term.
