Mancieri Appointed Interim Principal at NKHS

Superintendent Phil Auger said Mancieri "has an excellent relationship with students, staff and community."

The North Kingstown School Committee last week appointed Denise Mancieri as interim principal for the remainder of the school year.

Previously serving as assistant principal for teaching and learning, Mancieri “has provided excellent leadership and done tremendous work” as assistant principal, said Phil Auger, superintendent, in a memo to the School Committee.

Prior to her administrative role at the school, “she was a teacher and department chair in the NKHS Careers Department,” Auger said. “[She] has an excellent relationship with students, staff and community, and the best working knowledge of the school’s operations, making her the perfect person to lead the high school for this transition period.”

The transition period began with the departure of Principal Thomas Kenworthy who left the district at the end of September for a job as assistant superintendent in Portsmouth.

Mancieri will be paid a salary of $110,000.

Auger recommended the search for a permanent principal not begin in earnest until the spring.

“The spring is a more opportune time of the year for a full search as the school year wraps up and candidates become available to start in the early summer,” he said.
