LARCENY
On July 23, a Devils Foot Road woman told police that someone rummaged through folders containing documents stored inside her car sometime overnight.

The car was not locked, police said, and the only thing missing was a copy of her social security card.

Police documented the incident.

VANDALISM
Someone spray-painted the number “69” on a garage door of a Newport Avenue home sometime overnight on July 24, police said.

A neighbor reported the vandalism on his way to work, police said. Once they reached the homeowner, she said she last left home the night before at around 8 p.m. and the door was in its normal condition.

Police are investigating.

BREAK IN?
A Circle Drive resident told police on July 24 that she is convinced someone went into her house, leaving her dog in the bedroom with the door closed but taking nothing.

Police said the resident reported that she believed someone entered the house between Tuesday and Wednesday.

She said she left for work at around 11:30 p.m. and was sure the door was locked. But when she came home at 8 a.m., she saw the door was unlocked and found her dog confined in the bedroom.

Other than the dog in the bedroom, nothing else seemed disturbed and there were no signs of forced entry, police said.

The woman’s landlord reportedly told her that he didn’t enter the house and the woman said she believed the locks were changed before she moved in.

Police documented the incident.

BAGS STOLEN
Several items were stolen from cars parked at the Chafee Preserve on Boston Neck Road after smashing windows on July 24, police said.

Officers responded to the scene at around 1:40 p.m. and spoke with two victims.

The first, a North Kingstown man, said someone took his wife’s black Vera Bradley makeup bag.

The other victim, an 18-year-old Hope woman, emerged from the walking path as police were at the scene. A check of her car showed someone stole her purse that contained a paycheck, a blue Vera Bradley wallet and about 20 gift cards from various places.

TENSIONS AT THE MARINA
Police got two women to agree to avoid each other after tensions that have been building between two boat owners at Wickford Marina.

Police said on July 25, a woman reported she was being harassed by another boat owner. The issues originated from a previous dog dispute, police said.

No charges were filed.
