NK Police Log: 'Lost' And 'Tired' Man Arrested For Marijuana Possession

'Tired' Man Arrested For Marijuana Possession
Amilcar Conceicao, 22, of 43 Gloria St in Pawtucket was arrested on July 14 at 12:10 a.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and driving in possession of controlled substances.
When officers responded to reports of a possible intoxicated driver, they reportedy saw the driver crossing the double yellow line while driving. Police pulled over the vehicle and asked Conceicao why he was driving like that. He reportedy stated that he was “lost” and “tired.”

According to reports, he told police he was attempting to drive to the house of the passenger and that he had taken a wrong exit after the passenger fell asleep and didn’t give him any directions. While speaking with the occupants of the car, police noticed that both seemed nervous and continually fidgeted their hands even after being reminded to keep their hands in their laps.
After police asked if there was anything that they should know about, Conceicao alegedly pulled out a baggie containing substance resembling marijuana. He told police that it belonged to him, at which point he was taken into custody.

After searching the passenger and not finding any weapons, police searched the car and found a bag on the back seat which held a smoking device, rolling papers and two grinders. Both the smoking device and the grinders contained small pieces of a substance similar to marijuana.
After passing the field sobriety test, the passenger drove the vehicle from the scene. When police tested the substance found in Conceicao’s car, it allegedly tested positive for marijuana and was weighed at four grams. Conceicao is scheduled to appear in fourth district court on August 2.

- Larry Megel, 34, of 71 Salina St. in Providence was arrested on July 13 at 1:00 p.m. following a warrant for his arrest.
