NK Police Log: Man Chased After Punching Woman in Face
Information about the following incidents was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Peter Frank Mason, 21, of 68 Uxbridge St. in Cranston was arrested Aug. 13 at 7:44 a.m. on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.
Mason allegedly punched a 21-year-old woman in the face who was attempting to break up a fight between Mason and another partygoer on July 5. According to reports, Mason “deliberately punched her in the mouth” which knocked out one of her teeth and cracked another.
Once others at the party were made aware of the assault, a group of men reportedly chased Mason down the street – at which point Mason’s friend, who was asleep in his car outside the residence, awoke to see the chase. According to the friend, one of the men was holding a piece of wood, which he believed was used to hit Mason in the head. Police allegedly found the piece of wood with what appeared to be blood on it.

No one at the party was able to identify the men that reportedly chased and assaulted Mason before fleeing the area. According to police, most of the events of the night were relayed through the friend as Mason appeared to be highly intoxicated and unable to communicate to officers.
Mason was brought to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment due to a large cut on his head from the alleged assault that was bleeding profusely. On Aug. 13, Mason turned himself in to the North Kingstown Police Department.

NK Woman Arrested After Disturbing Neighbors
Michelle Lee Canfield, 42, of 6101 Post Rd., Unit 15 in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 13 at 8:28 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct.
Two of Canfield’s neighbors reportedly called police, stating that she was swearing in front of their children and others in neighborhood. According to reports, police had already been to Canfield’s residence an hour prior after her mother requested that she be removed from the property. Canfield’s mother reportedly refused police services when the arrived and Canfield remained at the residence.
When officers arrived, they reported that Canfield appeared to be under the influence and was agitated, swearing at officers. She was placed under arrest and brought to the North Kingstown Police Department, During processing, she allegedly told her arresting officer, “Your partner, the cute one, said he wanted to have sex with me.” When another officer told her that if she was lying she would face criminal charges, Canfield allegedly became quiet and then stated she did not want to file a complaint. After she was unable to post the $4,000 bail, she was brought to the ACI.
