In town, she’s held an annual fundraiser to benefit the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County and has raised more than $3,000 in recent years.

She coaches youth soccer at Ocean State Soccer Club.

She’s ranked no. 1 in her class of 358 and takes all honors and Advanced Placement courses.

She’s in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, NKHS Leadership Academy, a member of NKHS Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse and won the class of 2015 top history student award after her first and second year.

Not only that, she finds time to play music, playing first-chair trombone in the NKHS Symphonic Band and Senior Jazz Band. She was named to the Rhode Island Senior All State band in 2014 as well.

Andrews found out about her being named one of 12 Wendy’s High School Heisman Finalists at a surprise ceremony at North Kingstown High School Wednesday morning.

The Wendy’s High School Heisman program has honored all-star scholar-athletes who are also stand-out individuals in all aspects of their lives for more than 20 years,” said Archie Griffin, two-time collegiate Heisman Memorial Trophy winner. “These 12 young men and women were individually selected for showing the same Heisman ideals of outstanding performance and leadership in the classroom, on the field and in the community, and I’m honored to help Wendy’s congratulate these students on being National Finalists.”

Each of the 12 National Finalists will receive a gold medal and a $2,000 award for his or her high school. The one male and one female Wendy’s High School Heisman National Award Winners will also earn a Wendy’s High School Heisman Trophy, an additional $8,000 donation to each winner’s respective high school and a $500 gift card for use at Wendy’s restaurants. Additionally, the two winners will be recognized during the ESPN national telecast of the collegiate Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation on December 13.

Last year, East Greenwich’s Andrew Miner was the male winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman award.
