North Kingstown Sea Cadet Wins Essay Contest

Congrats are in order to North Kingstown's Yuri Wilcox, a Naval Sea Cadet from NCBC Battalion, Quonset Point.

North Kingstown student Yuri Wilcox, a Naval Sea Cadet from NCBC Battalion, Quonset Point, has been selected as a regional winner in the Fleet Reserve Association’s nationwide Americanism Essay Contest for 2015.

Seaman Recruit Wilcox received the FRA New England/Northeast Region’s First Place Award for his essay; the theme of the 2015 FRA Essay Contest was on the topic, “Why I Am Proud To Be An American.” Cadet Wilcox received a certificate and a cash award of $100 from the Fleet Reserve Association for his winning essay.

The Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 42 Davisville, is the founding sponsor of NCBC Battalion of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. NCBC has been providing leadership training and establishing core values for Rhode Island youth at Quonset Point/Davisville since 1986.
