Obituary: Alfred Costa Reis, 96, WWII Veteran

Alfred Costa Reis, 86, age 96, of North Kingstown, passed away with his family by his side Thursday, September 11, 2014.

Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Costa) Reis, and the devoted husband of 63 years to the late Josephine (Franchetti) Reis.

Al was a WWII Veteran, and for his service he received a Bronze star. He was employed by the Fram Corporation, as a machinist until his retirement in 1983. He was beloved father of Linda Reis-Zullo and her husband Anthony, and the beloved grandfather to Andrew and Katie Zullo of North Kingstown, RI. He was survived by a sister Margaret Arnold and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday September 18, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Francis De Sales, 381 School St., North Kingstown. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Alfred’s family would like to thank the staff at South Kingstown Nursing and Rehab for the care and compassion they gave to him during his stay. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The Davisville Free Library, 481 Davisville Rd., North Kingstown, R.I. 02852 or charity of the donor’s choice.
