Obituary: John Milton, 93, WWII Veteran

John Milton, 93, of North Kingstown and Swansea, MA died peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Nancy Ann Nursing Home in Foster.

John Milton, 93, of North Kingstown and Swansea, MA died peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Nancy Ann Nursing Home in Foster. He was the loving husband of the late Gertrude L. (Gray) Ingham. Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Harry Ingham and Bertha (Eastwood) Ingham.

From apprentice to design engineer, Mr. Ingham worked at Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Co. for 35 years until his retirement in 1975. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He loved his family, building and repairing things, camping and traveling, square dancing and spending winters in Florida. He was an active member of the North Kingstown Senior Center, where he sang with the “Swingers”, and a member of the Brown & Sharpe retirees lunch group.

He leaves his two loving daughters, Cindy Brinker and her husband Max of Littleton, CO and Marilyn L. Ingham and her husband George Connors of Foster, RI. Cherished grandfather of Darren Brinker and his wife Mandy, Shannon Brinker, Bryce Connors, and great-grandfather of Mallory Brinker and Carissa Brinker. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Leach, Alfred Ingham, Harry Ingham, and Alice Johnston.

A private family graveside service was held in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Nancy Ann Nursing Home, 47 East Killingly Road, Foster, RI 02825 will be appreciated.
