Katherine B. Alexander (Ballard), 85, of North Kingstown, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
She was the wife of the late William E. Alexander, Sr.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Edwin C. and Margaret (Dwyer) Ballard. A graduate of East Providence High School and Bryant University, she worked as a transcriptionist before starting a family and later worked as a secretary after raising her family.

She volunteered for the North Kingstown Senior Center for nineteen years. A communicant of St. Bernard Church, she was a member of the Women’s Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She leaves seven children, William E., Jr. and his wife Diane of North Kingstown, Edward J. and his wife Gail of Saugus, MA, Paul J. and his wife Corrine of Smithfield, Robert P. and his wife Valerie of Wareham, MA, Katherine E. Alexander-Hall and her husband Jeffrey of East Greenwich, John J. and his wife Rhonda of Warwick and Thomas W. and his wife Karen of Warwick; three brothers, Edwin C. Ballard, Jr. of Rehoboth, MA, John F. Ballard of Maitland, FL and William J. Ballard of Enfield, CT; a sister, Jean Finnerty Newberry of Hampstead, NC; eleven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Her funeral will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 8:45am from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Penn Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122 will be appreciated.Â
