Obituary: Kathleen M. (Scanlon) Carvalho, 50

Kathleen M. (Scanlon) Carvalho, 50, of Saunderstown, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 3, 2015 at South County Hospital. She was the loving wife of Vincent A. Carvalho. Born in Waterbury, CT, she was a daughter of Martin J. Scanlon of Southington, CT and the late Sally K. (Tagg) Scanlon.

“Kate” was a consummate mother and homemaker. She had a flair for life and the extraordinary ability to make connections with everyone she met. She fought cancer bravely, remaining graciously headstrong throughout. Her vibrant and generous spirit will truly be missed by many.

Besides her husband and father, she leaves her two loving children: Martin J. Carvalho and Maisy G. Carvalho, both of Saunderstown. She was the sister of Maureen A. Stangl of Bristol, CT, Kevin W. Scanlon of West Haven, CT, Meg M. Scanlon of Plainville, CT, and Eileen M. Kochol of Southington, CT. She was the daughter-in-law of Gerald and Antoinette Carvalho of Narragansett and also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a service to follow in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
