Obituary: Lois H. Stuart, 92, Teacher, Volunteer

Her Funeral and Burial will be private.

Lois H. Stuart, 1922 – 2014. Lois will be remembered by her sweet disposition and many acts of kindness. She lived most of her life in Wichita, Kansas, with 25 years in New York and Pennsylvania and the last seven in Rhode Island. She was a Kindergarten teacher, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and helped immigrant refugees settle in the U.S. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She loved crafts, especially jewelry making, basketry, and embroidery.

Lois was the daughter of Dr Robert O Howard and Nellie Reeve Howard and was predeceased by her son, Dr Howard C Mitzel; her husband, Dr Algie Stuart; and her three brothers and their wives, Donald and Winifred, Max and Theda, and Verne and Colleen. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia M Kerbel and her husband, Dr Richard Kerbel; her grandchildren, Nathan and Allison Kerbel and her partner, Eli Zupnick; and many devoted nieces and nephews.
