Obituary: Marvin J. Barnes, 62, Basketball Star

Marvin J. Barnes, 62, passed away in Providence, RI on September 8, 2014.

He was the devoted son of the late Albert L. Barnes and Lula Mae (Singletary) Barnes.

He was born in North Kingston, RI on July 27, 1952.

He was a legend basketball player and the founder and president of The Rebound Foundation- ”Bouncing Back from Adversity”.

He is survived by his wife Donna Barnes, his sisters, Alfreda L. Barnes-Robinson and Jacqueline Fagnant, and his children, Tifani Barnes, Marvin V. Johnson, Elijah (Fulp) Barnes and Mel (Johnson) Barnes. He will be truly missed by all.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 10AM - 2PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 375 Broad Street, Providence, RI. Burial will be in The Restlawn Cemetery, Lake City, SC.
