Obituary: Raymond Ortelt, 69

Raymond Ortelt of Wickford passed away peacefully at home on July 8 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 69 years old.

Known for his positive outlook and zest for life, Ortelt leaves behind his wife Bonnie, daughters Jill and Susan and granddaughters Lola and Chase. He is also the brother of Beverly Erikson of North Kingstown and Thomas Ortelt of Warwick.

Ortelt graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in engineering and was the Chief Information Officer at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket for more than 30 years. He was a pilot, avid sailor, sports enthusiast and enjoyed body boarding and ballroom dancing. He also took great pride in the building and caring of his home and property on Wickford Cove.

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours at Home on July 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the .
