Obituary: Richard J. Fitzgerald, 83, Mechanic at EB
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
Richard J. Fitzgerald, 83, of North Kingstown, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 24, 2014. He was the loving husband of Sandra J. (McCombs) Fitzgerald for 55 years. Born in Norwich, CT, he was a son of the late John R. Fitzgerald and Pearl (Whitmarsh) Fitzgerald.
Mr. Fitzgerald was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic at Electric Boat for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling in his RV, making Wawaloam Campground of RI and Fort Lauderdale, FL his second homes. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 152, American Legion Post 12, and the Wickford Club.
Besides his wife, he leaves his two loving children: John R. Fitzgerald and his wife Gail of North Kingstown, and Wendy J. Lewis and her husband Don of North Kingstown. Cherished brother of Marge Spicer of North Kingstown, Robert Fitzgerald of Lisbon, CT, and the late Kate Phillips, and Mary Fargo. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and his beloved Scottish Terrier, “Elly.”

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 11:00 am in The George C. Cranston, Jr. Chapel at THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service.
