Obituary: Virginia Perry Gardiner, 67

Virginia Perry Gardiner of Stony Lane passed away Monday, Sept. 10 at the age of 67.

Virginia Perry Gardiner, 67, of Stony Lane in North Kingstown died Monday Sept. 10, 2012 peacefully at home. She was born in Warwick a daughter of Mary Elizabeth (McGrath) Perry of East Greenwich and the late Marvin Alvis Perry.

Virginia was an artist, sculptor, jewelry designer, painter and co-owner of G&G Studios. She attended the University of Hartford Art School and thereafter was employed by Hasbro where she was the sculptor for the GI Joe development team, including the foreign soldiers and the GI Nurse. Later in life she and Ana Goulet established the G&G Studios where Virginia designed, sculpted and produced award-winning animal sculptures in bronze and pewter and jewelry. She has been the recipient of more than 38 jewelry and sculpture design awards in her lifetime. Her artwork resides in private collections worldwide.

She has lived in North Kingstown for more than 45 years. She was the mother of Christopher Gardiner of Riverside and Matthew Gardiner of Mattituck, New York; and sister of Dr. Curtis Perry and Dr. Keith Perry both of North Kingstown. A dear friend and business partner of Ana and Julien Goulet of North Kingstown and their sons Paul and Julien.

In addition to her mother and sons, she is survived by her grandchildren Tommy, Ben, Ariel and Perry as well as nieces and nephews Lauren, Colin, Galen and Aidan Perry.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. in the , followed by a service at 11 a.m. bBurial will be private.
