Obituary: Virginia R. (Rice) Hartley, 71

Virginia R. (Rice) Hartley, 71, of North Kingstown, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Paul F. Hartley for 53 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. Rice, Sr. and Alice L. (Bromley) Rice.

Mrs. Hartley was a Housekeeper at Scalabrini Villa for 26 years until her retirement in 2007. She was a Communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Wickford.

Besides her husband, she leaves her loving daughter, Beverly A. Garman of North Kingstown and her husband Thomas H. Garman, Jr.. Cherished grandmother of Kyle T. Garman and his significant other Nicole Lombardo of North Kingstown, Keith P. Garman and his wife Kathryn E. of Coventry, and Kayla V. Garman and her fiancée Nessim Terki-Hassaine of Houston, TX. She was the sister of the late Howard C. Rice, Jr.

Her Requiem Eucharist will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 55 Main Street, Wickford. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
