Obituary: Warren E. Benson, 86, Aircraft Technician

Warren E. Benson, 86, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 1, 2014.

Warren E. Benson, 86, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 1, 2014. He was the loving husband of Dorothy R. (Pinder) Benson. Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Emil Benson and Mary (McGlyn) Benson and the brother of the late Muriel A. Raymond and the late Dorothy L. Porrier.

Mr. Benson was employed as an Aircraft Technician at the Quonset Naval Air Station for many years until his retirement in 1973. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was a member of the American Legion, N.A.R.F.E. and was a member of Beacon Free Will Baptist Church of Exeter.

Besides his wife, he leaves his nephew, John K. Spink of Exeter.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors was held at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 7:00 pm in Beacon Free Will Baptist Church, 100 Exeter Road, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the church will be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford.
