Obituary: William C. 'Nip' Waring III, 78

William C. "Nip" Waring, III passed away this week.

The following information was provided by Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home.

Wickford's William C. "Nip" Waring, III passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 27 at the age of 78. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William C. Waring, Jr. and Elizabeth (Respess) Waring. He lives behind his wife Ann (Boothman) Waring.

Waring graduated from Moses Brown, Brown University and attended Bryant College. He was employed at Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Company for many years and owned Waring Bait & Tackle, Waring Glass Company and B&L Seafood.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Waring was an active member of the South County Rod & Gun Club since he was just 19 years old, assisting with the organization of the Point Judith Bass & Bluefish Tournament. Previously, he served as chairman of the North Kingstown Conservation Commission and was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wickford.

Besides his wife, Waring leaves behind his daugther Patricia Waring-Ward of Wickford and grandchildren Tyler Waring Ward of Jamestown, Claudia Coe Woljcik of South Kingstown and Alexis Respess Ward of Wickford. He also leaves behind his faithful dogs and companions – Sophie, Gus, Dayzee and Otis.

His Requiem Eucharist will be held Saturday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Church. A private burial will be held in the Old Narragansett Church Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Odyssey Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886 or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wickford will be appreciated.
