Obituary: William H Maine

William H. Maine – Chief CFD, Retd. – passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 17 in North Kingstown. Originally from Providence, he was the son of the late Henry Maine and Madeline (Holman) Maine. He was also the husband of Joan G. (Fedor) Maine. 

Maine was also the fire chief of the Cranston Fire Department and owner of Maine Caterers until his retirement. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in North Kingstown, the Retired Fire Chiefs Association of Rhode Island, the Wickford Club, the North Kingstown Republican Town Committee and the .

Aside from his wife, Bill leaves behind his son William T. Maine and a granddaughter – Jillian Maine of North Providence – along with siblings Henry Maine of Florida, Herbert Maine of Cranston, Daniel Maine of Warwick, Barbara Burgess of Florida, Sally Grayson of Tennessee, Joan Gannon of North Kingstown and Kathleen Maine of Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at . Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
