Updated: Two Dead after Route 4 Crash in North Kingstown

The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Two people were killed and three others were hurt after a serious crash in North Kingstown on Route 4 late Saturday night.

Police and firefighters responded to Route 4 at West Allenton Road at around 11:30 p.m. and found two cars heavily damaged, one of which was on fire.

Police said that a car heading south on Route 4 went into the opposite lane and was struck by a car heading north. Two men in the southbound car, aged 25 and 19 respectively, were killed. A backseat passenger was transported to Rhode Island hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The highway was closed in both directions for a period of time as crews tended to the injured and the fire was extinguished.

Both cars involved in the crash were heavily damaged, though the passengers in the northbound car did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
