Police Log: Man Scammed, Mailbox and NKHS Tagged
The following arrests and incidents were reported by North Kingstown police. They do not indicate a conviction.

SCAMMED
A 20-year-old North Kingstown man told police that he sent $1,800 to someone using Western Union after receiving a check for $2,900 that later bounced.
On July 30, the man came to North Kingstown police headquarters and said he was contacted by a person who was interested in a room he had for rent in Providence.
The interested party, identified as Lindsey Evans, reportedly sent the man a check for $2,900, telling him she was from Scotland and had to pay to have her car transported to the United States. She asked the man to send her some of the money she sent to pay for transport.

The man deposited the check into the account and wired $1,830 to a woman with a different name living in Colombia, South Carolina, on July 25, police said.
The money was picked up the following day but the original check soon bounced.

The matter was documented and the man’s bank was handling the fraud investigation.
DOMESTICS
Police charged Tiffany Lee Macleod, 23, of 12 Lea Drive, North Kingstown, with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct July 30 at 9:16 p.m.
Police said they were dispatched to a Lea Drive address for a report of a disturbance and concluded that Macleod assaulted a man by throwing a slice of pizza at his legs and scratching his arms.
On Aug. 1, police charged James Ernest Joly, 46, of 10 Jasmine Circle, Saunderstown, with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct after an alleged argument.
Police said they were dispatched to the address after a 911 phone call.
On Aug. 3, police charged John Spencer Allen, 29, of 139 Lafayette Road, North Kingstown, with domestic simple assault, domestic vandalism, domestic failure to relinquish a telephone and domestic disorderly conduct.
Police said Allen allegedly hit a woman in the head, pushed her, smashed her phone and tackled her as she tried to run to a neighbor’s house to get help.
MAILBOX VANDALIZED
A commercial office building at 650 Ten Rod Road has been the site of several vandalism incidents in recent weeks, most recently on July 30, police said.
Police were dispatched to the building at around 2:15 p.m. after an employee at Premier Orthopedics reported that the building’s mailbox had been tagged several times.
Police said there appeared to be three tags on the mailbox in black magic marker on the large mailbox, which is shared by all the building’s tenants.
Police are investigating.
NKHS VANDALIZED
Someone spray-painted graffiti on the eastern side of a maintenance building at North Kingstown High School.
Police said the yellow paint resembled the word “ammo” with a crown just above the tag.
Police found similar graffiti on the side of a silver connection box on the same building.
Police noted the tag is similar to the mailbox incident on Ten Rod Road.
DUI
Police charged John J. Judge, 68, of 16 Dayton Court, North Kingstown, with driving under the influence Aug. 1 at 5:24 p.m.
Police said Judge allegedly struck a box truck parked on the side of West Main Street while attempting to make a U-turn.
At the scene, police said Judge showed signs of intoxication and later failed a field sobriety test.
Judge also refused a chemical test, police said.
