Public Invited for Comp Plan Rewrite Kickoff

The North Kingstown Comprehensive Plan is a critical document, perhaps just as important as the Town Charter.

It sets the guidelines for all the planning and zoning conditions that shape how the town grows and outlines specific goals and policies with an eye toward the future decades to come.

The major undertaking has involved a resident and business survey, walking tours throughout key areas, including Wickford, Davisville and Post Road and the hiring of a consultant to study the findings.

There is still a long road ahead, with a series of public hearings and plenty more activities as the real work of modifying the master document unfolds in the coming months.

The start of the process is marked by the public kick-off event planned for Thursday, July 16 at the North Kingstown Senior Center from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at 44 Beach St.

The consulting firm willl unveil the findings and the initial comprehensive plan re-write.
